The behaviour of dolphins
In recent years we have gotten to know the dolphins' behaviour better - and they have also gotten to know our safari boats. Event though you should never set your clock based on a dolphins whereabouts, there is often a pattern in, when they show up in the canal.
Some days we are lucky and they are nearby from morning until evening. Other days we see them only sporadically. And on a few days it happens, that we don't see them at all. We see dolphins on average on 90% of our dolphin safaris - that is a pretty wild thing to be able to say in Denmark.
The chances to see dolphins in Thyborøn Canal are best at the end of or early in the day. That is why we have decided to offer the tours, when we do. We want to increase your chances of experiencing the dolphins. If you want a wonderful boat trip during the day, we recommend a seal safari instead. With as large of a colony of seals as we have in the area, the likelihood of seeing seals is the same in the morning as it is in the evening. Through five years we have seen seals on 100% of our seal safaris.
We do not give a dolphin guarantee on this tour. The animals are wild animals, who decide themselves when and where they want to be here. We do however guarantee a lovely sail filled with lots of stories about the animals and the area in general. The animals' welfare determine the tour. Everyone's safety - both the animals and our own - is the number one priority.
